Historically, the trade, innovation and economic relations of Puerto Rico have focused on the United States. In the increasingly global economy, Puerto Ricans consider expanding and diversifying their economic relations with the rest of the world. The European Union is a potential collaborator and good partner.

For those reasons, San Juan is our chosen location for a conference outlining a vision for enhanced transatlantic collaboration in trade, research & innovation, security and culture, within the context of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

The event will provide an overview from academics, policy makers, government representatives, and representatives of the Puerto Rican business community. The presentations will showcase the European Union as the world’s largest trading bloc; present an array of opportunities for strategic transatlantic relations in matters such as trade, culture, and science innovation; and discuss their potential impact on the economic growth of Puerto Rico.

The conference should be of interest to students, academics, government representatives, policy makers, and general public interested in transatlantic collaborations.

This event is organized in partnership with the European Studies Association
